What Happens After AI?

Welcome to the Dave vs. AI.

Right now, all eyes are on AI.

ChatGPT. LLMs. Deepfakes. Autonomous agents.

It’s dominating the headlines, the boardrooms, and the dinner-table debates.

But no one is talking about what’s coming next.

Because after AI comes quantum computing… and when it arrives, it will change everything.

The Singularity Is No Longer Sci-Fi

For a long time, the singularity was treated as a sci-fi thought experiment — a theoretical tipping point when machine intelligence would surpass human intelligence.

But quantum computing isn’t theoretical anymore.

It’s actively being developed in labs around the world.

Progress is accelerating.

And the timeline keeps getting shorter.

The problem is: we’re not ready.

Not for what it breaks.

Not for what it unlocks.

Not for what it means.

Quantum Breaks the Internet

Let’s start with the most obvious disruption: security.

Everything from your credit card to national security secrets is protected using encryption… encryption that assumes classical computers need decades to break.

Quantum computers can break that in minutes.

That means:

  • Every password becomes useless

  • Every encrypted message is readable

  • Every “secure” digital transaction is instantly compromised

From the Pentagon to your PayPal account, quantum computing is an extinction-level event for modern encryption.

And that’s just the beginning.

What Comes After the Breach?

If we’re lucky, quantum computing won’t just be used to break things. It’ll be used to build.

But that doesn’t make it any less disruptive.

Because here’s the next wave of questions:

  • What happens when AI is powered by quantum-level processing?

  • How do companies compete when the advantage goes to whoever gains quantum access first?

  • How do nations function when the tech gap between quantum and non-quantum countries becomes bigger than any digital divide in history?

This isn’t science fiction.

It’s a strategic reality we haven’t wrapped our heads around yet.

We’re Not Having the Right Conversation

While we’re busy arguing about whether AI should write our emails…

Quantum is quietly queuing up the next exponential leap in capability.

And the scary part?

No one’s talking about it.

There’s barely any public discourse.

No playbook.

No framework for governance.

No coordinated plan.

Just a ticking clock.

Final Thought

If Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is on the horizon, then quantum computing is the rocket fuel that will launch it.

And we’re still acting like this is some distant problem.

It’s not.

We need to stop thinking in terms of what’s next quarter and start thinking about what’s coming next era.

Because when quantum shows up, the game doesn’t just change.

It ends and restarts under a new set of rules.

Are we ready?

I don’t think we are.

AI browsers are the next big land grab, and everyone’s racing to own the default experience.

ChatGPT launched Atlas… but so did Perplexity, and now Comet. Browsers + AI search are merging fast.
